What is cross trade?
Cross trade refers to cross-border direct deliveries where the originator, place of despatch and place of receipt are in different countries. The goods are transported directly from the supplier or producer abroad to the recipient in a third country without first passing through Switzerland.
How does cross trade work in forwarding?
In the case of cross-trade transport, the forwarding company coordinates transport between the country of departure and the country of destination, even though the client is based in another country. Depending on the order, this includes transport planning, coordination with international partners, as well as transport documents and customs processes.
Which modes of transport are possible with cross trade?
Cross trade can be handled by road, air freight, sea freight or rail. Multimodal solutions are also possible. The type of transport selected depends on the route, type of goods, delivery time and the order requirements.
Can cross trade delivery be neutral?
Yes. On request, delivery can be organized on behalf of the originator. The relevant procedures and delivery documents are coordinated accordingly so that the original supplier is not in the foreground in the eyes of the recipient.
